Training & Resources For Foster Parents
Help Serve Alaska by Providing Family and Child Centered Services With Unconditional Care.
New Foster Parent Orientation Trainings
All training must be completed before a foster child can be placed in the home.
  • Therapeutic Behavior Management (TBM)  8-hour course completed by TBM Instructor.
  • Trauma-Informed Care (TIC)  12-hour course completed by TIC Instructor
  • Foster Parent Manual, Reporting Requirements & Reasonable/Prudent Parent Standard 3-hour course completed with Licensing Specialist
  • Medication Administration Training  2-hour course completed by FCSA Nurse.
  • CT One Training  4-hour course completed by QA Instructor
  • First Aid/CPR/AED – Certification through AHA (American Heart Association) by our certified on-site instructor (or something along those lines).
  • Shadowing with FCSA Foster Parent  4-hour training with an experienced FCSA Foster Parent

Annual Training
To stay updated with our training standards you will be required to have 15 hours of annual training in TBM & Medication Administration.
Bi-Annual Training
Every foster parent must attend a bi-annual training course in Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), AED and First Aid.
