FCSA offers many unique options for children and young adults who are struggling with behavioral or mental health concerns. No matter the treatment setting, FCSA’s mission to provide unconditional care to Alaska’s children remains the same.
FCSA’s youth and families are supported by a caring team of professionals, dedicated to helping them process trauma, learn coping skills, build self-esteem and tackle any challenges that come their way.

Clinical services consist of a holistic approach to overall wellness that is aimed at achieving the optimal physical and emotional health of our clients, improving their overall functioning, and increasing their resiliency.

Youth Education Support Services (YESS)

FCSA operates both an elementary day treatment program and a secondary day treatment program for middle school and high school aged children which integrates behavioral health and educational services. This program relies on a low child to staff ratio, to help alter the children’s behaviors so they may return back to mainstream public school.

Alternatives to Out-of-State Placement (ATOP)

Children in this program are able to receive wrap-around services in an unrestricted environment and reside with their family, legal guardian or in a foster home. Services are individually designed taking into consideration the unique strengths, values and needs of each child and family.

Summer Skills Development Program (SSD)

Each summer when school is out, the SSD programs allows children to participate in a variety of activities that include job skill development where children work and earn money, along with activities that blend instructional learning and fun.

Respite and Crisis Services

REACH provides respite service to parents, foster parents or guardians of children enrolled in FCSA programs. Services are provided in a residential home and a maximum of five children can be accommodated at each respite session.

Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC)

This program provides early intervention behavioral health services to children that require treatment and a stable living environment, so as to avoid the future need for more intensive mental health treatment in an institutional setting.

Residential Treatment Center (RTC)

The RTC is a 24-hour residential program for youth ages 12-18 who are experiencing mental or behavioral challenges. Children receive behavioral health, clinical and psychiatric services in a stable, therapeutic environment complete with a comprehensive education center, cafeteria, gymnasium and theater for recreation.

Adolescent Co-Occurring Treatment (ACT)

The primary focus of FCSA’s Adolescent Co-Occurring Treatment program (ACT) is to provide services to youth with a co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder diagnoses. Treatment is provided in a nurturing family environment.
